Teachers' union OAJ warns of three-day teaching strike at Tampere University of Applied Sciences
Teachers' union OAJ has issued a strike warning that would halt teaching at Tampere University of Applied Sciences from 15–17 September.
Aamulehti reports that the teachers' union OAJ has issued a strike warning that would halt teaching at Tampere University of Applied Sciences from Tuesday, 15 September to Thursday, 17 September.
The warning, the union's third this year for universities of applied sciences, would also cover Haaga-Helia, Hämeen, Jyväskylä, Laurea and Turku universities of applied sciences. Earlier warnings targeted Metropolia, LAB, Savonia, XAMK, Oulu and Lapland, with planned walkouts on 1–3 September and again on 8–10 September.
The union says the warnings aim to speed up stalled collective bargaining talks with employers' organisation Sivista. If negotiations do not produce an agreement, it plans a series of short stoppages to press for progress.
Staff also staged a one-day strike in May after a series of OAJ warnings that included picket duty and a morning event at the main campus.
