Tampere art tram to host live jazz, rap, theatre and pop-up art this autumn
Tampere's art tram will host pop-up visual art, jazz, rap and theatre performances across the city from late September through mid-December.
The season opens with a TamJazz pop-up featuring double bassist Janne Reinola and saxophonist Sami Kari. Their traditional autumn jazz set runs on Tuesday 29 September and Thursday 1 October on tram line 1. Departures from Kauppi campus are at 11:31, with a return from Pyhällönpuisto at 12:17 on both days.
In October passengers can volunteer to be quickly sketched by visual artist Kaija Pavu. Sessions are planned for Tuesday 20 and Thursday 22 October and will proceed only with the subject’s consent.
November brings performances by young artists from Tampereen Rap-Akatemia, including Luka Kallio, Deekoo, HVNNES, IsoE and reson. Shows are scheduled for Tuesday 17 and Friday 20 November.
The autumn run concludes with excerpts from Teatteri Telakka's Carolus Rex, performed by Heidi Kiviharju and Jyrki Mänttäri on Wednesday 16 and Friday 18 December.
The tram carrying the programme is wrapped in Maya Hahdo’s Ankkaratikka artwork. Exact times and routes will be published on the company's website and social media a few days before each show, Tampereen Raitiotie Oy said.
The pop-up series began in 2022, returned this spring and continues the Taideratikka programme the Taideratikka's spring run. The programme is produced by Tampereen Raitiotie Oy in cooperation with Pirkanmaan festivaalit ry and has so far featured 35 local organisers. The operator reserves the right to make programme changes.
