Tampere council approves €2.97 million in grants for sports and youth associations
According to the City of Tampere, the city has approved €2.97 million in grants for local sports and youth associations, covering operating and facility support for dozens of clubs.
According to the City of Tampere, the city has approved nearly €3 million in subsidies for local sports and youth associations next year. The city board signed off on a package totaling €2,972,010 that covers both operating and facility grants.
General sports grants remain at €819,000. Deputy Mayor for Education Services Anne‑Mari Jussila said 85 sports clubs applied and nearly all received support.
A €50,000 special grant will go to Tampere Sports Academy, routed through the Varala Foundation to fund daily coaching and guidance for young athletes. Adapted sports grants, totaling €50,000, were awarded to 24 associations to support people with disabilities, long-term illnesses and older residents.
Youth association grants went to 22 groups, amounting to €231,500 for activities with at least 30 participants under age 29.
Pirkanmaan Kaarikoirat ry will receive rent‑free use of premises this year at the Old Plastics Factory and Kuivaamo under a facility grant of €442,020. The association organises year‑round skateboarding activities and supports the Sammon keskuslukio skate line.
