Tampere city council will hold a closed evening training on 14 September to review meeting conduct after repeated incidents of shouting and personal clashes at recent meetings.

Tampere city council will hold a closed evening training session on 14 September to review meeting conduct after repeated shouting and personal clashes at recent meetings, Tamperelainen reports.

Organised by the council leadership, the session is intended to allow open, solution-focused discussion where councillors can share personal experiences. "This is why the working session will not be held as a public event," said first vice chair Sofia Julin (Social Democrats).

The programme includes a presentation by Juha Myllymäki of Kuntaliitto on meeting procedures and the duties of elected officials, followed by small-group conversations on discussion culture, interaction and shared practices. The talk fee is 200 euros plus VAT.

Councillors began their current term in June 2025 and will serve until May 2029.
