Tampere launches Urban Prosumers with €180,000 for resident-led climate experiments
The City of Tampere is inviting residents, associations, businesses and experts to co-develop everyday mobility, food and energy solutions and apply for a share of €180,000 in community experiment funding; a project kick-off will be held at Nekalab on April 16 (5:00–7:00 p.m.).
The City of Tampere is inviting residents, associations, businesses and experts in the region to co-develop everyday mobility, food and energy solutions and to apply for a total of €180,000 in community experiment funding. A project kick-off will be held at Nekalab on April 16, 5:00–7:00 p.m.
Urban Prosumers builds on the city's Carbon-Neutral Actions development programme and aims to expand community-led climate work with external support.
Project manager Elina Pulliainen says the scheme will draw on lessons from past co-development work and notes that prosumerism can mean both technical solutions, such as smart energy, and grassroots projects that grow from small ideas.
The community grant call opens in July. The experiments will seek social and technological innovations that improve everyday sustainability and strengthen local action.
Urban Prosumers is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme and is implemented with Tampere University Consortium, EcoFellows Ltd and MDI to support the EU’s Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities mission.
The Nekalab kick-off on April 16 is open to residents, organisations and businesses interested in community-driven solutions and the grant process.
