Tampere Mushroom Society's Vapriikki exhibition offers on-site mushroom ID
Tampere Mushroom Society holds its annual mushroom exhibition and on-site identification desk at Vapriikki on Sunday 20 September.
Tampere Mushroom Society holds its annual mushroom exhibition at Vapriikki on Sunday 20 September.
The exhibition brings together a broad selection of fungi, from prized edible species and dangerous poisonous mushrooms to rarer groups such as polypores (bracket fungi), coral fungi, hedgehog mushrooms, earthballs and inkcaps. Visitors will also see wood-rotting stump fungi, button-stage specimens and slime moulds. A central part of the event is an on-site identification desk where experts will identify specimens and give practical advice on recognising and handling different species.
Local interest in fungi has been growing. The event follows recent attention, including a toothed bracket fungus found on an old maple in Finlayson Palace Park earlier this week.
