Tampere will hold a residents' evening on biodiversity on 4 June, featuring presentations and a 'more-than-human' workshop with tips for boosting biodiversity in yards and housing companies.

According to the City of Tampere, Tampere will host a resident evening on biodiversity on 4 June, featuring a presentation and a 'more-than-human' workshop.

The programme will cover the city's LUMO biodiversity programme, nature-based solutions in urban planning and the environmental protection team's work, and it will offer practical tips residents can use to boost biodiversity in yards and housing companies.

Development manager Kaisa Mustajärvi says the evening responds to a wide resident survey carried out in autumn 2024, when people asked for more information about what the city is doing to safeguard nature. Reetta Rossi of the Kudelma cooperative said, "Tampere looks different depending on whether you view it through the eyes of a person, a squirrel or a pine."

The programme begins with presentations at 17:00, followed by questions and coffee, and an 18:00 workshop on creating multispecies wellbeing in the city; the evening finishes at 19:30. Participants can attend the full programme or join only the presentations (17:00–18:00) or the workshop (18:00–19:30).

The event is organised by the city's climate policy and environmental protection unit together with Kudelma cooperative's More-than-Human municipality project. Read more on the Tampere event calendar and register by 1 June.
