Tampere opens applications for Lahdesjärvi and Lentävänniemi plots; Hyhky site offered in online auction
The City of Tampere has opened applications for rental row-house and apartment plots in Lahdesjärvi and Lentävänniemi and is selling a Hyhky plot by online auction; applications must be submitted by 15:45 on 30 June 2026.
According to the City of Tampere, all available row-house and apartment plots are ready for immediate construction. Applications are open for rental plots in Lahdesjärvi and Lentävänniemi, and an open auction is under way for a Hyhky plot. Applications must be submitted by 15:45 on 30 June 2026.
Three plots in Lahdesjärvi’s Västinginmäki area are suitable for apartment blocks, row houses and other linked residential buildings. They can be developed as market-rate or affordable housing, but under the city’s zoning plan affordable units are limited to at most 35 percent of the new residential floor area. The aim is a varied mix of building types, apartment sizes and tenure models.
A single rental row-house plot at Reuharinkatu 21 in Lentävänniemi is available near the small-house district and Purjehtijanpuisto. Zoning for the site has been changed from entertainment to residential, and the new housing must include family-sized units.
The Hyhky plot, which includes an existing building in poor condition, is being sold through an open online auction at huutokaupat.com. Tamperelainen reports that the debate this spring on Facebook (“Save the Old Wooden Houses”) was sparked by a local report about the neglected property at Selkeenkatu 5, after a city condition survey found mould and rot. Tamperelainen adds that, under the new zoning plan, part of the building is located on street area, meaning the structure must be removed.
The auction is open to private individuals and runs until 10 August 2026. Winners of the rental-plot applications will be decided in August and September.
