Protected Hatanpää laundry fetches €735,900 after 325 bids
An online auction at Hatanpää Manor on Saturday evening pushed the price of the protected former laundry to €735,900 after 325 bids; Tampere city still must decide whether to accept the offer.
Tamperelainen reports that an online auction at Hatanpää Manor pushed the price of the protected former Hatanpää laundry to €735,900 on Saturday evening. The final hour was frantic. Bidding had sat below €100,000 until 17:00, then surged as 27 participants placed a total of 325 offers, with the winning bid lodged at 18:06. The auction platform Huutokaupat.com allows the sale to be extended if a new bid arrives within three minutes of the deadline. Tampere city still has the right to accept or reject the highest offer. Any sale requires a legally binding decision by the appropriate municipal authority or committee. The roughly 890-square-metre 19th-century building sits on the shore of Pyhäjärvi. It is protected for its cultural and historical value and cannot be demolished, and it most recently housed artists' studios. The auction outcome follows earlier coverage showing only modest interest in the sale: a top bid of €20,801 by the morning of July 31 July 31 update and a €10,001 high bid reported on June 8 June 8 report.
