Tampere has chosen Digia Finland Oy to supply a new core financial management system in a roughly €2.6 million, six-year contract; rollout is due by December 2027 and remaining modules will be phased in through March 2028.

Tampere has chosen Digia Finland Oy to supply a new core financial management system, replacing a platform that has been in use for 20 years. The procurement follows cooperation talks to restructure the city's finance and HR functions started in late August after Tampere reported a €32.5m deficit for 2025 in June. Four final tenders were received. The six-year contract is worth roughly €2.6 million, and rollout is due by December 2027.

The new core system will handle accounts, ledgers, fixed assets, internal accounting and reporting, and it is the first of four planned procurements. Separate tenders for purchasing and invoice processing, financial planning and investment management are scheduled for 2026; the remaining modules will be phased in through March 2028, with data transferred automatically between systems. Mikko Koskela, Tampere's financial director, said the collaboration should deliver more efficient processes and better use of data. Digia's Tapani Ojaluoma highlighted the platform's potential for automation and artificial intelligence to support the city's competitiveness.
