Tampere region secures nearly €3m for youth employment
The Tampere region's employment area has received nearly €3 million in recruitment subsidies to hire youths in Pirkanmaa, YLE reports.
According to Aamulehti, the €2.93 million subsidy is part of a national subsidy scheme approved in December 2025 for 2026 and 2027, with access to the funds through early 2027.
The subsidy is designed to encourage employers to hire under-30 unemployed jobseekers for at least half a year, covering roughly half of wage costs up to 1,500 euros per month.
The Tampere region aims to distribute the funds evenly among its municipalities; the hired youth must reside in the Tampere region, while the employer can be based anywhere in Finland.
Eligible youths must have been unemployed for at least six months in the last seven months, or have only completed basic education and have been unemployed for at least three months at contract time.
The program seeks to strengthen longer-term employment after the subsidized period ends, and it is not available for seasonal or summer work.
Detailed guidelines will be published when the recruitment subsidy opens.
