Tampere secures €49,000 contract to remove Mustanlahti breakwater for new piers
Tampere has hired Pajapekka Oy to remove the old breakwater at Mustanlahti harbour to make way for new south-bank boat piers.
Tampere has awarded a €49,000 contract to Pajapekka Oy to dismantle the old stone and wood breakwater in front of Mustanlahti harbour on Lake Näsijärvi, clearing space for new south-bank boat piers, Tamperelainen reports.
Work includes demolishing the concrete deck, the stone caisson and the wooden grating. It also covers cutting the load-bearing wooden piles flush with the basin floor.
Demolition waste will be sorted and transported to recycling, waste management and storage sites designated by the client. The work is funded from the Viiden tähden keskusta development programme.
Removal follows the installation this summer of a floating breakwater that protects about 100 new small-boat berths at Mustanlahti the harbour's floating breakwater.
