Business Tampere opened an office in Lviv on 17 September to help Pirkanmaa companies find partners and contracts in Ukraine’s reconstruction.

Business Tampere opened an office in Lviv, western Ukraine, on 17 September to strengthen market access and partnerships for Pirkanmaa companies, according to Aamulehti. “Now we must be present in Ukraine and build networks for our companies,” Business Tampere CEO Harri Ojala said. YLE adds that the office opens on Thursday and is run in cooperation with Business Tampere. It will function as a local base in Lviv city centre for finding partners and meeting clients. Run by the Tampere city region’s economic and development company, the office will act as a gateway between local partners and firms seeking contracts in Ukraine’s reconstruction and other sectors. YLE quotes Business Tampere’s Ukraine country director Minna Tihinen. She says that reconstruction needs are estimated at more than €500 billion, and highlights that the Confederation of Finnish Industries has put the potential value of Finnish exports to the sector at around €1–2 billion per year. Finnish and Ukrainian defence, health and education companies attended the opening, along with local leaders led by Lviv mayor Andri Sadovyi. Tampere was represented by deputy mayor Ilkka Porttikivi. Ojala called the Lviv office a milestone. He pointed to roughly €500 billion in rebuilding needs, a major market opportunity for Pirkanmaa businesses and especially for the region’s large defence cluster. He acknowledged the risks posed by Russia’s war, but said Ukraine is on track to become a Western-style economy and to join the European Union. Porttikivi said the city expects the investment to pay off and hopes to extend cooperation to other Ukrainian cities if Lviv yields results. The move builds on Tampere’s recent support for Kyiv and earlier efforts to deepen defence and dual-use industry ties with Ukrainian partners Tampere's backing of Kyiv earlier this year and a March defence and dual-use summit in Tampere.
