Tampere backs Kyiv now and into the future as Mayor Ilmari Nurminen and Kyiv Mayor Vitalyi Klitschko meet in Kyiv, Tamperelainen reports.

During the visit, Tampere outlined new aid including energy equipment and first-aid supplies for Kyiv, building on a string of goods donations from the Finnish city. Klitschko thanked Tampere for long-running, concrete support and called the collaboration a vital lifeline amid Russia's invasion. The mayors discussed current conditions in Kyiv and ways to deepen cooperation on emergency relief, reconstruction, and broader partnership.

The trip also highlighted ties beyond aid, with a focus on children and youth welfare. Ukrainian youths will join Tampere summer camps, and Nurminen visited Kyiv's center for children and youth, where he was given Moomin-themed artworks created by youths who had visited Tampere. The delegation also toured a city-owned ice hall where rinks and ice machines from Tampere enable youth sports, and officials see opportunities in Ukraine's future reconstruction by leveraging Tampere's know-how and solutions.
