Tampere to add six tram stops and four cars, targets 20 million rides in 2025

Tampere will open six new tram stops, add four tram cars and carry more than 20 million passenger journeys in 2025, positioning the city's light rail network for a busy year of growth and higher ridership, Tampere Tramway says. The extra stops and vehicles are intended to meet rising demand and ease crowding during peak periods. A larger fleet should improve service frequency and make operations more resilient when trams require maintenance, while supporting Tampere’s wider urban development and everyday commuting patterns.
