Tampere Public Transport Reports 2025 Growth and Financial Balance

Tampere Public Transport (Nysse) announced the publication of its 2025 annual report, highlighting continued growth, proactive financial balancing, and service developments. The release underscores ongoing progress in the city’s public transport network and sets the stage for 2026.

The report notes that tram service to Lentävänniemi began on January 7, and that the new feeder traffic strengthened Hiedanranta as a major interchange. Passenger journeys reached 55.8 million in 2025, marking another year of increased usage for the network.

Nysse also led a European BEST study with 84 percent of respondents expressing satisfaction with the services. A new superbus concept is being advanced to combine the smoothness of trams with the flexibility of buses in a cost-effective way. Financially, the operations were about two million euros better than budgeted, helped by trimming areas and times with lower demand. The year’s results lay a solid foundation for 2026, underscoring that growth, customer satisfaction and financial balance can advance together, according to Mika Periviita, the city’s Public Transport Director.
