After large crowds and beach evacuations during the last Venetian weekend, Tampere will pre-plan safety measures for future Venetian festival weekends, coordinating youth work, outreach, first aid and communications when large turnouts are expected.

Thousands gathered at Rosendahl shore during the last Venetian festival weekend, forcing police to disperse the crowd, according to Tamperelainen.

Tampere will now pre-plan safety measures for future Venetian festival weekends, coordinating youth work, outreach staff, first‑aid readiness and communications when advance information indicates a large turnout. The move follows police evacuations after dangerous fireworks and disorder at Pyynikki and Rosendahl beaches during the event that forced police to clear beaches this summer and builds on the city's earlier plan to expand neighbourhood outreach funded by a state grant to extend street outreach in Hervanta, Annala and Kaukajärvi.

Deputy Mayor Anne‑Mari Jussila (National Coalition Party) responded to a council question from Ida Leino and Saija Pitkänen (both National Coalition Party) about measures to protect young people after the incident. Police said it involved substance use, fireworks and other disorderly behaviour.

Another councillor, Mitja Tapio (Left Alliance), asked whether the city has situational awareness of far-right activity and how staff are trained to spot radicalisation.

The city says its primary prevention tactic is to support young people's wellbeing, inclusion and sense of community while intervening early in problems. Preventive tools include cooperation between schools, youth services, social and health services and the police, plus staff training to recognise signs of radicalisation and extremism. The aim is to keep young people safe.
