Tampere University of Applied Sciences opens centralised music centre with chamber hall and Black Box
Tampere University of Applied Sciences has opened a centralised music education centre on its campus, featuring a chamber music hall, a Black Box and classrooms for acoustically demanding teaching.
A renovation and expansion that began in early 2025 has given music education in Tampere a centralised home on one campus, Tamperelainen reports.
The project, carried out by contractor Jatke Pirkanmaa, involved demolishing the old D wing and constructing a new one. It also renovated the assembly hall, auditorium and foyer, and created the Litukka parking area between the school and the tramline.
The upgrade provides dedicated facilities for music teaching, including a chamber music hall, a Black Box and classrooms suited to acoustically demanding instruction. It brings previously scattered teaching locations together on a single campus.
The high-quality rooms are intended not only for students and staff but also for the wider community, serving as a cultural meeting place for performances and artistic experiments.
