Tampereen Työväen Teatteri will stage a relaxed, low‑stimulus matinée of Boy in the Attic, Boy in the Cellar on 16 January at 1 p.m. Audience members may bring ear protection and fidget items; house lights will stay on to make moving in and out easier. Sound levels will be lowered and auditorium lighting slightly raised so viewers who need to leave and return can do so safely.
A quiet room in the lobby will be available for calming down. Volunteer peer supporters will be on hand. Patrons may also stay in the hall to enjoy snacks during the interval while the theatre restaurant operates as usual.
The show is aimed at people with neurodivergent traits and others who need extra support, although everyone is welcome. Planning partners include Setlementti Tampereen Omavoima, TSAU ry and Tampereen Kehitysvammaisten Tuki ry; they helped tailor the performance to be more accessible for families and individuals with special needs.
The relaxed matinée follows the play's October premiere at TTT's Kellariteatteri, Tamperelainen reported.
