From 1 October Tampereen Vesi will charge personal customers €3 for each mailed paper bill; businesses will pay €5. Prices include value-added tax.
The fee applies to mailed paper invoices and to bank direct-debit agreements, but customers using electronic billing, such as email invoices, e-invoices ordered through online banking or business e-invoicing, will not be charged. Tampereen Vesi says the change aims to reduce paper use and lower the company's carbon footprint, and urges customers to switch billing methods well before the October billing run. Aamulehti could not reach a Tampereen Vesi representative for comment.
The change comes as fee relief requests at Pirha have doubled, highlighting growing pressure on households from rising service charges.
