Tampere’s electric scooter season starts Monday March 16 after operators requested an earlier launch because of mild weather; the base season runs April 15–November 14 and operations outside those dates require city permission.

Electric scooters return to Tampere streets as the season begins on Monday, March 16, with operators starting earlier due to milder weather, according to Aamulehti. The base season runs from April 15 to November 14, and operations outside those dates require separate city consent.

Operators sought an earlier start because of mild weather, and the city approved the request under its micro-mobility permit terms. During the season, scooters must be parked in designated spots in the city center, and the city reserves the right to remove scooters with 72 hours’ notice if weather conditions become unsafe. The paper notes that outside the base period, operators would need explicit city permission for broader operation.

Safety rules are strict: riders must be at least 15 years old, and riding is prohibited if blood alcohol content is 0.5 per mille or there are drugs in the system. Maximum speeds are 20 km/h by day and 15 km/h at night, with slower zones in the city center. From Thursday to Saturday, between 23:00 and 05:00, riders must pass a reaction test before starting a trip, and riders must follow bicyclist traffic rules; sidewalk riding is prohibited. In the central district, scooters must be parked in marked boxes or stands, and elsewhere parking may be on the sidewalk or at the edge of a bike lane as long as it does not endanger safety, according to Aamulehti.
