Tissue Left in Closed Fireplace Sends Smoke Through Lempäälä Home
A tissue placed inside a closed fireplace sent smoke through a Lempäälä home and prompted a morning response. No one was injured and the scene was secured.
Smoke from a tissue tucked into a closed fireplace set off a morning alarm in Lempäälä, Tamperelainen reports. Emergency crews from the Pirkanmaa Rescue Department were called at about 7:40 a.m. on Sunday to Kelhontie and traced the smoke to burning paper in the stove. By about 8:00 a.m. firefighters had secured the scene. No one was hurt. Officials said a fire had been kept in the fireplace the night before; after the stove's flue plates were closed someone placed the tissue inside, which caused the smoke.
