Volunteer Lawyers Resolve One Third of Issues On the Spot at Metso Library
Volunteer lawyers will offer free, confidential legal advice at Tampere’s Metso library on 16 Sept, 21 Oct, 18 Nov and 9 Dec as part of clinics serving 11 municipalities.
Volunteer lawyers will return to Tampere’s main library Metso to offer free, confidential legal advice on 16 September, 21 October, 18 November and 9 December as part of clinics organised across 11 municipalities. Help is free and confidential. More than a third of problems are resolved during the sessions, Tamperelainen reports.
The sessions cover all types of legal issues. During a confidential consultation a lawyer will assess whether specialist legal help is needed and can refer clients to an experienced lawyer or the appropriate authority.
Around 600 people use the free clinics each year. About two-thirds of visitors are women, and a similar proportion are of working age.
The lawyer clinics are part of a wider set of drop-in advice services in Tampere, following the city’s drop-in spring money clinics that offered anonymous help with bills, debt and housing earlier this year the drop-in money clinics this spring.
