Wine Spot to Open on Kuninkaankatu: Simon Bouquin Brings 100+ French Wines to Tampere
French vintner Simon Bouquin will open Wine Spot, a French-style wine bar on Kuninkaankatu opposite K-Supermarket Kuninkaankulma in June, offering 100+ French wines and takeaway cheeses, charcuterie and sandwiches.
French vintner Simon Bouquin, 53, is opening Wine Spot, a French-style wine bar on Kuninkaankatu opposite K-Supermarket Kuninkaankulma in June, Tamperelainen reports.
Bouquin is originally from the Loire and already runs a wine-import business. He plans to offer more than 100 wines at the new bar, many from small French producers he knows personally.
He previously ran a pop-up wine bar in the Tampere Market Hall in summer 2023. At Wine Spot he will pair wines with cheeses, charcuterie, sandwiches and occasional pies imported from France. Those products will also be available to buy and take home. "I hope to create something permanent in Tampere," he says.
Wine Spot will be open Tuesday through Saturday. Bouquin aims to open on many days before noon so customers can grab food to go even if they do not come for an early glass of wine. The premises previously housed Zeytuun and café-restaurant Iskif, and Bouquin believes his aperitif-focused concept will stand out among Tampere's existing wine bars.
