Ylöjärvi to Host Free Three-Part Preparedness Lectures at Leija Library

A free three-part public lecture series on local defence, civil protection and everyday safety starts in Ylöjärvi on 21 September. The City of Tampere announced the programme.

The series opens on 21 September with a presentation by the Pirkanmaa Regional Office of the Armoured Brigade on threats during normal and crisis conditions. On 28 September Sami Lindfors, fire inspector at the Pirkanmaa Rescue Department, will speak on civil protection and cooperation between authorities. Researcher Tarja Ojala closes the series on 5 October with practical guidance on building a safe, accident-free everyday life and on preparedness.

Kristiina Kestinen, coordinator of public lectures at the Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region, says residents should be ready to cope independently for at least three days (72 hours). She cited contagious illnesses, extreme weather and a shifting security environment as reasons to keep food, water and warmth available.

The lectures are free, open to everyone and require no advance registration. They will take place in person in the multifunctional space of Leija Library in Ylöjärvi. Sessions will not be streamed or recorded. For enquiries, email [email protected].
