ABC Oritupa in Orivesi to Close for Renovation, Reopen for 2027 Ski Holiday

Pirkanmaan Osuuskauppa will comprehensively renovate ABC Oritupa in Orivesi starting in autumn 2026. The site is expected to be fully closed for about four weeks in January 2027, with a reopening planned around the 2027 ski holiday, Tamperelainen reports. The renovation will add a glazed terrace with roughly 50 customer seats.

The project aims to speed up service, increase capacity during peak seasons and improve customer comfort. Hesburger will move into the market-side lobby to separate fast food from other dining. Restaurant-side self-checkouts, the chain's first in Pirkanmaa, will be installed to ease busy periods. Fuel pumps and electric vehicle chargers will remain available while the building is closed.

Interior works include a complete overhaul of the restaurant hall and service lines. New dish-return facilities will replace old collection carts, refrigeration units will be updated and cold storage will be significantly expanded. The station will switch from oil heating to geothermal energy to cut emissions. Group manager Jukka-Pekka Pesonen said Pirkanmaan Osuuskauppa intends to preserve Oritupa's traditional rural-romantic atmosphere.
