Hervanta’s K-Market Teekkarinkatu to Close for Weeks as Store Gets Full Renovation
K-Market Teekkarinkatu in Hervanta will close for several weeks for a near-total renovation that replaces refrigeration, shelving and the checkout area and upgrades staff facilities.
Tamperelainen reports that the renovation will gut almost the entire store, keeping only a few fixtures, and will replace the refrigeration units, central shelving, the checkout line and the bottle return machine, shop owner Paula Kiiveri said in a K Group press release.
Floors will be repaired, the back cold rooms resurfaced and staff facilities upgraded. It is a big overhaul.
Located at Teekkarinkatu 17, the store first opened in 1998 and was last renovated in 2014.
The new interior will emphasize wood surfaces and darker tones. Although the shop’s floor area will not grow, new fixtures will free up space for a broader product selection.
Kiiveri said customers have largely asked only that the work be finished quickly so the market can reopen soon.
The renovation follows other recent supermarket refurbishments in the region, such as the Partola Lidl's full renovation and reopening earlier this summer.
