K-Market Tahmela to close for full renovation, reopens in early December with modern checkouts
K-Market Tahmela in Tampere will close for a full renovation from 26 October and aims to reopen in early December, with new shelving, chillers, a modern checkout and a replacement bottle return machine.
K-Market Tahmela will close for a comprehensive renovation beginning Monday 26 October. The store will serve customers for the last time on Saturday 24 October and aims to reopen in early December, according to local paper Tamperelainen.
The overhaul will update the sales area, back rooms and staff facilities while keeping the overall floor space the same. It will use the space more efficiently.
New shelving and refrigeration will create more freezer capacity. The shop will get a new floor and modernised checkouts, one of which can be switched to self-service, and a new bottle return machine.
The market shares its building with the local café Kujakolli and will remain closed for the entire construction period until the planned December reopening.
The renovation follows similar supermarket refurbishments in Tampere this autumn, including a near-total renovation at K-Market Teekkarinkatu in Hervanta reported earlier this season.
