More than 40 shops will take part in the Aleksanterinkatu Block Party in central Tampere on Saturday, Sept. 19, double the turnout from the inaugural event.

This year's Aleksanterinkatu Block Party will feature more than 40 businesses, double the number that joined the inaugural event. The street festival returns to Tampere city centre on Saturday, September 19, Tamperelainen reports.

Participating brick-and-mortar shops will offer special deals and in-store programming. Organisers are placing extra emphasis on outdoor activities.

A free public street-art painting workshop organised by Katutaidetoimisto Tampere will run at the intersection of Aleksanterinkatu and Satakunnankatu in front of the Olympia block, and two alpacas will visit HAY Second Hand so passersby can say hello.

Other highlights include a guided watercolor workshop at Cafe Nöös, a poetry and film evening hosted in shared spaces by Helga-Neiti Second Hand and Vintage Garden, and the freestyle-rap Mansen Championship at Onda.

Juulia Heinämäki of HAY Second Hand coordinates the event with a small volunteer team. Their aim is to support lively, accessible urban culture while boosting foot traffic for local street-level businesses.
