Bonava has halted pre-sales for a planned 38-flat Okra building in Hiedanranta after buyer reservations fell to about five serious prospects.

Bonava has halted pre-sales for the planned 38-unit Okra apartment building in Hiedanranta after buyer interest fell sharply, Aamulehti reports. The developer’s Tampere and Turku unit stopped marketing the block when advance reservations dropped from around a dozen at best to roughly five.

Panu Sivula, head of Bonava’s Tampere and Turku unit, said the company concluded the project "wasn't developing in the right direction" and needed changes. The building was due to be completed in 2027, but with only a handful of serious prospects Bonava has paused marketing. Those roughly five interested parties will be notified first if plans are revised.

The pause comes as Tampere pushes ahead with large-scale plans for Hiedanranta, aiming to build a 20,000-resident urban centre and allocating over 150,000 gross square metres for housing in the zoning area. It coincides with other recent housing moves in the area, including plans to add 66 Avain rental homes in the area.

Bonava, which operates in Sweden, the Baltics and Germany, reported group revenue of about c700 million in 2025. A neighbouring project, Terra, a smaller 23-apartment block, remains in the planning stage while the company reassesses demand.
