Lujatalo starts work on 45‑apartment Pioni beside Hatanpää Arboretum
Lujatalo will begin construction late this autumn on Asunto Oy Tampereen Pioni, a privately financed 45‑apartment building beside the Hatanpää Arboretum, with completion targeted for late 2027.
Lujatalo has announced it will begin construction late this autumn on Asunto Oy Tampereen Pioni, a privately financed 45‑apartment building beside the Hatanpää Arboretum in Tampere, with completion targeted for late 2027.
The building will sit between the historic arboretum and the Pyhäjärvi waterfront recreational route and will be served by the Tampere–Pirkkala light rail branch currently under construction. The project was developed in cooperation with MVH‑Yhtiöt, whose housing projects are rising on the same plot.
It will be energy efficient. All 45 homes are being designed to A energy class standards, with geothermal heating and individual underfloor heating and cooling systems in each apartment to provide year‑round comfort.
Markus Peltonen, director of real estate development, said the site occupies a "unique, desirable and green spot" in Tampere’s urban landscape, close to Pyhäjärvi, local recreation and the new light rail. He noted that public and commercial services, Tampere city centre and Pyynikki’s outdoor areas are within walking distance.
The building is intended as the final phase of the Hatanpää Arboretum development package; earlier work on the site includes a parking facility and apartment blocks built for TA‑Yhtymä and MVH‑Yhtiöt. This follows Lujatalo's March announcement of a 52‑apartment tower in Hatanpää.
Hanne Miettinen, sales and marketing director for the housing unit, said the decision to build Tampereen Pioni is an important step that shows the company is moving forward decisively at Lujakoti. She added the firm is preparing new projects for advance marketing in the Helsinki region and Turku as market confidence recovers.
