Fines After Pyrotechnics, Small Explosive and Pitch Invasions at Tammela Stadium
Several people were fined at Tammela Stadium during KuPS–Trabzonspor's Conference League match after pyrotechnics, the discovery of a small explosive and pitch invasions.
Tamperelainen reported that police issued fines to several people during Thursday's Conference League match between KuPS and Trabzonspor. The incident followed warnings from Trabzonspor ahead of the sold-out match that breaches could trigger UEFA sanctions.
Offences recorded included unlawful assembly, careless handling of an explosive and public order breaches. Stewards removed flares from visiting supporters at the stadium gates, after which police confiscated the items and issued fines for unlawful assembly. A small explosive was found during a security check. A fine was issued for careless handling.
Before kick-off a dispute erupted between two visiting supporter groups over who would lead the chants, but they settled the matter themselves. Three people ran onto the pitch during the match. One adult was fined for a public order offence; two minors were dealt with in ways appropriate to their ages.
Police warned that pyrotechnics at public events pose serious safety risks and said they will continue working with the organiser to improve crowd safety.
