Finnair will resume daily scheduled flights between Tampere–Pirkkala and Helsinki from 25 October 2026, with two daily departures from Tampere and an overnighting aircraft; the Oulu–Helsinki service will also call in Tampere.

Finnair announced it will resume scheduled flights between Tampere–Pirkkala Airport and Helsinki Airport on Sunday, 25 October 2026, restoring daily connections that tie Tampere into the airline’s international network. The news was reported by Business Tampere.

There will be two departures from Tampere to Helsinki each day: a 6:00 a.m. service aimed at European connections and a 12:20 p.m. flight timed to link with international departures in the afternoon and early evening. A late-evening service from Helsinki will return to Tampere, allowing the aircraft to remain overnight in the city. Finnair’s published schedule also shows the Oulu–Helsinki service stopping in Tampere, creating a direct connection from Oulu. That gives travellers more options.

Local business groups say the route matters beyond the short hop to Helsinki. Marja Aalto, Aviation Specialist at Business Tampere, welcomed the return and said the most important outcome is that Finnair’s entire international route network will again be accessible via Tampere-Pirkkala Airport.

She added that rebuilding air connectivity takes time and requires aligning regional demand, airline networks and the economic viability of routes. "Finnair’s return is an important step in this process. It is now equally important that travellers in the region discover the new connection and start using it," Aalto said.

Finnair will operate the services with ATR turboprop aircraft seating roughly 70 passengers. Daytime bus services between Tampere and Helsinki Airport will continue, while the late-evening bus will be replaced by the new late-night flight. Tickets will be sold through Finnair’s website and travel agencies via the airline’s regular booking channels.
