Finnair will resume scheduled flights between Tampere–Pirkkala and Helsinki–Vantaa from Sunday 25 October, operating two daily return services, Tamperelainen reports. A morning departure from Tampere will cater especially to passengers connecting to European destinations, while a midday service links the city to Finnair’s afternoon and early-evening international departures. The late-night flight from Helsinki arrives in Tampere. The aircraft then stays overnight. Marja Aalto, an air traffic specialist at Business Tampere, welcomed the return in a press release. She said it restores direct access to Finnair’s full international network via Tampere–Pirkkala and provides more travel options for people leaving the region and visitors arriving. The resumption follows Finavia’s recent €1.1 million upgrade to runway approach lighting at Tampere–Pirkkala Airport earlier this month the airport's lighting upgrade.
