A new 12-kilometre hiking route, Tuskien taival, has been completed in Ruovesi’s Helvetinjärvi National Park, with lakeside rest sites added at Löyttyjärvi and Iso Poikainlampi, YLE reports.

Tuskien taival links Haukkajärvi to Iso Poikainlampi and Löyttyjärvi, creating an option for a clockwise loop of up to 23 kilometres that returns via the park’s northern area or Helvetinkoulun to Haukkajärvi. Arto Pummila of Metsähallitus' Nature Services said the name reflects the park's demanding terrain and changes in elevation. The route was identified during the park’s management and use plan drawn up about six years ago; the plan covers maintenance for the next 10–15 years.

The two new rest sites, at the southern ends of the lakes, each include a campfire area, a lean-to shelter, a firewood shelter and a sealed tank toilet. Both offer tenting areas and lake views from the lean-tos. Metsähallitus says the new sections are temporarily marked in the terrain with blue tape where no clear footpath exists yet; permanent signage and route markers will be installed later.
