A draft plan for a new lakeside walking route along Prykinranta at Särkänniemi is on display from 14 to 28 October 2026, and construction is targeted for winter 2026–2027.

A new lakeside walking route would give residents and visitors improved access to Prykinranta near Särkänniemi. The City of Tampere has placed the draft master plan on display from 14 to 28 October 2026. It can also be viewed at the Tampere service point at Aleksis Kiven katu 14–16 C.

The route follows an existing recreational area and is based on the 2022 zoning plan for Särkänniemi. In the west, the trail would run along the worn footpath as a narrow gravel walkway. The east, steeper section would use wooden boardwalks and steps, with a handrail on the downhill side. Because of the rocky, wooded terrain and the stairs, the route will not be accessible or kept clear in winter. Only vegetation necessary for construction and use will be removed. Planners aim to preserve pines and elms where possible and to adapt the final alignment during construction to protect ground contours and retained trees.

The proposal includes two bench-equipped rest and viewpoint spots on the highest Prykinranta rock, with selective removal of young deciduous trees to open views toward Näsijärvi. Lighting under the wooden structures would be modest, to help travel in spring and autumn evenings while minimizing disturbance to wildlife. Final locations and fixtures will be decided during detailed design. Work at the amusement park boundary will be coordinated with Särkänniemi’s technical water systems and operations, and construction is targeted for winter 2026–2027.

The proposal continues recent work on lakefront parks and recreational trails, following earlier Tohloppi lakefront park plans approved in March and the Kauppi–Niihama outdoor recreation upgrades announced in June.
