Highway 3 tunnel near Hämeenlinna to close overnight for cleaning

The Highway 3 tunnel near Hämeenlinna will be closed to traffic overnight on the nights of 14–15 and 15–16 September for structural cleaning, Tamperelainen reports. The southbound tube will be closed from 22:00 to 05:00 on 14–15 September, and the northbound tube during the same hours on 15–16 September. Traffic will be redirected to alternative routes, which may cause delays for drivers heading south toward Helsinki and north toward Tampere. Expect detours. Work crews will reopen the tubes as soon as the cleaning is finished, but the closures may be cancelled at short notice if weather prevents the cleaning work. This is a recurring maintenance measure. A similar two-night closure was carried out in March earlier this year.
