Rantatunneli to Close Overnight Twice in September for Major Maintenance

Rantatunneli will be closed to traffic overnight during two separate weeks in September for extensive maintenance, Tamperelainen reports. The eastbound A tube will be shut from 14 to 18 September and the westbound B tube from 21 to 25, with work each night from 22:00 to 06:00. Vehicle traffic will be directed along signposted detour routes through Tampere's street network and the ring road. Crews will wash and service the tunnel, test technical systems and equipment, and inspect lining structures and drainage chambers, cleaning them as needed. This larger-scale maintenance is carried out twice a year to ensure traffic safety and the reliability of the tunnel's technical systems.
