Kari Jalonen ends coaching career immediately; Fredrik Norrena to finish season as Tappara coach
Tappara coach Kari Jalonen has ended his coaching career effective immediately; the club signed Fredrik Norrena to lead the team through the end of the season.
Tappara announced on Monday at 6 p.m. that Kari Jalonen is ending his coaching career effective immediately.
The longtime coach, who led Tappara this season, said he no longer feels the drive needed for coaching and has decided to stop.
The board of Tamhockey Oy signed Fredrik Norrena to a contract through the end of the season to replace Jalonen. The rest of the coaching staff will remain in place.
Jalonen thanked Tappara for the opportunity, calling the club a top organisation. He said the decision was personal and that he will not discuss it further.
General manager Janne Vuorinen called Norrena an excellent choice to continue the club's work.
Jalonen had only recently returned to Tappara as head coach this season after rejoining the club in August.
