According to the City of Tampere, two exhibitions at Culture House Laikku in Tampere open on 22 August and run through 27 September 2026. They explore memory, place and objects repurposed from everyday waste. The openings follow earlier exhibitions at Laikku this spring and summer, including an April Biennale show and two exhibitions in May.
On the gallery level, Liminal Grounds by Jennifer Lipkin presents paintings and multisensory pieces made from slowly layered surfaces, privileging perception and atmosphere over literal landscape. The works draw on a Karelian notion of place as a living relationship between people and their environment. They are the final chapter of Lipkin’s Searching for Land of Mother Pearl trilogy, a series that asks how places can inhabit the imagination even without direct experience.
In the Studio, Hanna Oinonen’s Hush Little Leftover assembles materials salvaged from recycling centres, flea markets, unsold florist bunches, withered houseplants and grape stems. The fragile installations raise questions about overconsumption, inequality and diminishing empathy.
Admission is free. Culture House Laikku is at Keskustori 4, Tampere. Summer hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with extended weekday hours starting 1 September 2026.
