Man in His 40s Faces Minimum Four Years for Härmälä Apartment Stabbing
A man in his 40s faces at least four years in prison after allegedly stabbing a woman and attempting to stab a man in an apartment in Tampere’s Härmälä on January 30.
Prosecutors have asked Pirkanmaa District Court to impose at least four years' unconditional prison for a man in his 40s charged with two counts of attempted murder and assault after an attack in a private Härmälä apartment on January 30.
According to the charge, he threatened a man and a woman with a knife, first attempting to strike the man, who avoided the blow, and then stabbing the woman in the chest. The wound was potentially life-threatening, and prosecutors have presented aggravated assault as an alternative charge.
He has a prior criminal record. It includes previous prison sentences for multiple assaults and a robbery, along with convictions for property, fraud and drug offences. Separately, he is charged with assault after admitting he struck the woman in the corner of her eye with his fist before the stabbing.
