Night-time Tests Begin on Hatanpään valtatie Tram Turnout
Night-time tests of a newly electrified tram turnout on Hatanpään valtatie in front of Koskikeskus will be carried out 8–12 June and will affect tram services and local cycling arrangements.
According to Tampereen Raitiotie Oy, night-time tests of a newly electrified turnout on Hatanpään valtatie in front of Koskikeskus will be carried out from 8 to 12 June. The tests will affect tram services and local cycling arrangements during the week.
Tram line 3 will not serve Sorin aukio from 1 to 8 June, with Koskipuisto acting as the temporary terminus. The turnout control system and the associated traffic lights are scheduled for testing on the night of 8–9 June from 20:00 to 05:00, and on 9–10 June from 22:00 to 05:00. If needed, additional tests may continue on the nights of 10–11 and 11–12 June, also from 22:00 to 05:00.
Regular service to Sorin aukio is expected to resume on the morning of 9 June. Traffic control will be in place during the tests to maintain safety and keep traffic moving.
The cycle lane in front of Koskikeskus, closed during the electrification work, will remain closed for the duration of the test week; cyclists will be directed to use the adjacent sidewalk.
The work is part of construction of the Pirkkala–Linnainmaa tramway. "These test runs are needed to activate the turnout's control systems and traffic lights while keeping safety and traffic flow our top priorities," said Antti Haukka, traffic manager at Tampereen Raitiotie Oy. Passengers are advised to follow updates from Tampereen Raitiotie Oy and local transport authorities for any last-minute changes.
