A nurse at Tampere University Hospital recorded a 3.3 per mille breath alcohol level and allegedly assaulted two colleagues during a night shift in June, Aamulehti reports.

A colleague noticed the nurse's behaviour and, together with another staff member, raised concerns that they might be intoxicated. The nurse denied the claim and left the ward. Soon after, they physically grabbed the other nurses. One victim sustained an injury that required surgical treatment and remains on extended sick leave.

Security staff administered a breath test showing 3.3 per mille and removed the nurse from hospital premises. Police of Central Finland have filed a criminal report and are investigating two assaults. Valvira, the national health regulator, said it is aware of the incident.
