Nysse cuts suburban services for the summer; many routes return 5 August
Summer timetables in the Tampere region suspend several suburban bus lines until 5 August 2026 and introduce city-centre stop and route changes while major rail yard construction continues.
Summer timetables take effect across the Tampere region, suspending a number of suburban bus lines for the season; paused services will return on Wednesday 5 August 2026.
Several routes will take a summer break: Kangasala (44, 44A, 44B, 46, 47, 48A–48D and 49), Lempäälä (56, 57, 59), Nokia (72, 76, 77, 78), Orivesi (97C, 97D), Pirkkala (39), North Tampere (91–93), Ylöjärvi (86) and Valkeakoski (44, 44A, 44B, 63, 65A, 66, 68, 69). Line 76 is being discontinued and will not return in the autumn.
Major construction at the Tampere passenger rail yard is prompting longer-lasting changes in the city centre. The Itsenäisyydenkatu underpass will be closed to vehicle traffic for several years while a new travel terminal is built. Trams will continue to run through the tunnel. As a result, lines 6, 42 and 90 will be moved from Rautatienkatu to Yliopistokatu. Line 6 will keep its Sorin aukio–Suvantokatu terminus, while lines 42 and 90 will be redirected to the bus station. Line 29 will be rerouted via Tammela and Armonkallio. Kyttälä stops on Rongankatu will be out of use until autumn because of a district heating work site; Vapriikki stops on Lapintie will serve as replacements.
Work by the Pirkkala–Linnainmaa alliance will allow lines 30 and 31 to return from their temporary Lempääläntie detour to Hatanpään valtatie during the summer. In North Tampere the network is being overhauled and the operator will change: Koiviston Auto Tampere Oy will take over services after the regional transport committee approved the plan on 23 April 2025. Line 90 will continue to run into the city centre via Eerolansuora and Maisansalo between Terälahti and downtown, with the bus station as its new terminus. Lines 91–93 are being retained primarily for school services and will start when schools reopen in August; feeder line 15’s service pattern remains unchanged, connecting Sorin aukio with the Kauppi campus and tram line 1.
Ylöjärvi also sees route changes. Line 82 is permanently rerouted away from Urkonmäki to a direct path via the Pallotie junction into Ylöjärvi centre, adding stops at Pallotie and Vaasantie while Urkonmäki remains served by line 84. Line 80 will be diverted to Pohjolantie for the summer from 1 June 2026 because of a site at Hatola; all Käyräkuja stops and some Mastontie stops will be omitted for the season. Lines 84 and 85 will operate on weekdays only, with line 85 gaining extra trips towards Kuru.
Nysse says the changes reflect passenger numbers compared with last summer and are intended to match capacity to demand. Frequency adjustments include line 18 running every 15 minutes on weekdays; lines 33 and 35 increasing weekday frequency to every 20 minutes, with line 35 also gaining a half‑hourly Saturday service; and line 60 operating mainly every 30 minutes on weekdays with some added weekend trips. Updated timetables are already available in the Nysse route planner and schedule service.
