Nysse extends Line 7 to Käräjätörmä from September 28

From 28 September Line 7 will be extended to Käräjätörmä, terminating at the northern end of Tesoma Highway, the company said in a press release. The stop currently called Tesoma Swimming Hall 1645 will be renamed Käräjätörmä 1645 when the change takes effect.

The route change improves public transport access to the growing residential area and creates a direct connection from Kalkku, Villilä and Ala-Rahola to services in Tesoma such as the school, sports hall, swimming hall and ice rink. For many residents the extension will remove the need for extra transfers when travelling to those facilities.

Line 7 will keep its current routing through Tesoma to Kalkku, then continue via Villilä and Ala-Rahola toward the city centre. Travelling to the city centre via Kalkku and Villilä takes about 15 minutes longer than a more direct route with a transfer, so passengers headed downtown may prefer to change at Tesoma, where lines 4 and 8 follow a shorter route. The Tesoma railway stop also offers rail connections to Tampere and Nokia.

Several stops in Tesoma will move from Tesomankatu onto Tesoma Highway: the new stops are Tesoma C 1611 and Tesoma D 1610, and the stop Tesoma F in front of the Wester wellbeing and commercial centre will be removed. Removing Tesoma F makes it easier to access the parking hall and allows the new stops to be built with shelters, which was not possible at the old Tesoma F location, Nysse said.

Existing timetables for the current section of Line 7 remain unchanged. Schedules for the extended service to Käräjätörmä are already visible in Nysse's route planner, and other timetable services and passenger information displays will be updated as soon as possible. The extension was earlier approved as part of the 2028 plus bus service, but the route can be implemented sooner once the Käräjätörmä street renovation is finished, Nysse added.

The change follows an earlier plan to move Line 7’s terminus about one kilometre north near the Tesoma Swimming Hall, and it is consistent with the 2028 Plus Bus plan that previously set the route as Käräjätörmä, Tesoma, Kalkku and the city centre.
