Wasagroup's proposed 28,000 m² One Park retail hub next to Ikea in Lahdesjärvi could bring outlet shopping and roughly 680 jobs, with the city aiming for the centre to open in late 2028 or early 2029.
A planned 28,000-square-metre One Park retail hub could bring outlet shopping and roughly 680 jobs to Lahdesjärvi by 2029. The city has selected Wasagroup to develop the site on Automiehenkatu next to Ikea, Tamperelainen reports.
Wasagroup project manager Juha Rajamäki describes the concept as a Swedish-style retail cluster where shops open onto a shared courtyard, a format he says would be new to Tampere. The centre would target major chains, specialty stores, outlet shops, cafes and restaurants. Grocery retail is excluded by the current zoning, and parking would be provided on site.
Wasagroup is negotiating with potential tenants and has seen strong market interest, though no conditional leases have been disclosed. The site sits beside a motorway that carries about 50,000 vehicles daily and could be served by a future Vuores tram connection.
The wider Lahdesjärvi zoning proposal, now on public display at the city planning committee, covers about 69,000 gross square metres, mostly industrial and warehouse space. The city aims to have the plan legally in force by early 2027. Construction could then start, allowing the retail centre to open in late 2028 or early 2029.
