Over 1,000 Exhibitors at Alihankinta Fair Expected to Clog Western Ring Road

Heavy traffic is expected around the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre from 29 September to 1 October, Tamperelainen reports, with slow journeys likely on the western ring road and near Sarankulma, Härmälä and Hatanpää.

Organisers have set up temporary traffic arrangements and ask visitors to follow signs and traffic marshals' instructions to ease congestion. The exhibition is fully booked, with more than 1,000 exhibitors. It draws manufacturing professionals to Tampere to discuss competitiveness, export prospects, funding for growth, workforce availability and the use of automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning in industry. Sami Siurola, project manager at Tampere Trade Fairs, says Finnish manufacturing has strong expertise but needs new networks, investment and better use of technology to grow internationally. The centre generated an economic impact of €119 million for the Tampere region in 2025 and supported 1,625 person-years of employment, Taloustutkimus found.

Earlier coverage said the fair attracts large visitor numbers and generates significant regional economic benefits including organisers' estimates of nearly 30,000 visitors and a multi-million-euro boost to Pirkanmaa.
