More than 1,050 Tampere residents attended the spring 2026 Residents' Evenings across Hervanta, Peltolammi, Nekala and Kaukajärvi to hear about city projects, meet officials and share views on neighbourhood issues.

The City of Tampere said more than 1,050 residents attended the spring 2026 Residents' Evenings in Hervanta, Peltolammi, Nekala and Kaukajärvi, where locals heard about city projects, met officials and shared views on neighbourhood issues.

The events were set up like fairs: a deputy mayor or other experts presented local topics while residents moved between themed tables at their own pace. Regional Coordinator Jarno Koskinen said, "At the heart of it all is residents’ opportunity to participate and have an influence on shared matters."

The Nekala evening drew roughly 300 people to the renovated Nekalab Cultural Centre. Hervanta’s session was linked to Anti-Racism Week and ended with a concert by Isaac Sene. Peltolammi focused on the planned Peltolammi Wellbeing Centre, due to begin construction in autumn 2026; it is set to include a school, daycare, youth facilities and a library.

Organisers reported strong turnout from families and young people and said they received praise from residents and local associations alongside criticism and ideas for improvement. Mystery shoppers from the Tampere Panel evaluated the events. Deputy mayors now regularly attend to meet residents, and communications have been expanded across the city website and social media, on buses and trams, in libraries, and via the Tampere events calendar and Tampere.Finland app.

The Residents' Evenings will continue in autumn 2026, beginning with an event attended by the mayor, deputy mayors and the chair of the City Council, followed by area-specific sessions in Tesoma and an English-language evening.
