A protected former laundry at Hatanpää Manor has drawn only modest interest in Tampere city's online auction, with a top bid of €20,801 by the morning of July 31.

A protected laundry building at Hatanpää Manor, facing the lake, has attracted only modest interest in an online auction run by Tampere city; the top bid was €20,801 by the morning of July 31, Tamperelainen reported. The auction opened in June with a top bid of €10,001, according to the city's June auction announcement.

The former laundry at Pehkiönkuja 2, about 890 square metres of floor space on an 833-square-metre lot with 1,065 square metres of building rights, is being sold as a renovation project via Huutokaupat.com. Bids must increase by at least €900. The auction closes on Saturday 22 August at 18:00, or three minutes after the last offer, and the city can accept or reject the highest bid.

The century-old building, possibly dating to the late 19th century and expanded in 1934 by architect Bertel Strömmer, was converted in 1986 for painting and sculpture conservation. It has housed artists' studios in recent years.

Zoning protects the building and forbids demolition; any repairs must preserve its cultural-historical character and place in the cityscape. Tanja Tiihonen, Tampere city property manager, said the plot's yard must be maintained as part of the park and may not be fenced. Public viewings are scheduled on 12 and 19 August from 15:00 to 15:45.
