Pyynikki Surges to Second Most-Viewed Tampere Neighborhood
Oikotie search data for April–June 2026 show Pyynikki has risen to the second-most searched Tampere neighbourhood among buyers, with the city centre still top and Linnainmaa gaining after tram plans.
Aamulehti reports that Oikotie's search data for April 1–June 30, 2026 shows Pyynikki has climbed to the number two spot in searches by Tampere homebuyers for owner-occupied homes. Pyynikki returned to the top two in the second quarter after Kaleva briefly moved ahead in the first quarter.
Oikotie's director Tiina Aalto-Fischer says Pyynikki is both traditional and developing, with almost the entire housing stock made up of apartment blocks, and that average prices per square metre there are higher than elsewhere in Tampere. The city centre remains Tampere's most-searched area, while Linnainmaa has climbed back into the top ten – a rise Oikotie links to plans for a tram extension to Linnainmaa, with construction due to start in 2028.
The rankings are based on Oikotie's search activity and show where people want to buy, not where sales actually take place; Oikotie Asunnot is used by more than a million people weekly. This shift in search interest comes amid a downturn in Tampere's housing market earlier this year, when used apartment transactions and prices fell in January–June 2026.
